POSTCARD POETRY FESTIVAL: August 8, 2012
Finally, I am able to write a poem according to the suggestion of taking a prompt from a postcard received. The first postcard poem I received was from Tina Posner in Austin, Texas. It was a handmade card with a cat on the front.
Stab with paw
Observe results
Confirm with nose

Startle at sound
Jump down
Confirm with nose

Publish results
Empty house
Cry out.

stab sharp beak.
raven squawks,
cleans up your mess.
beak pokes
into human discard
abandoned burger
mustard smeared
faux meat
stabs and tidies up
road kill.
startle you?
